Who needs a city license

Any residential property in Hollywood used as a vacation rental needs a city vacation rental license, in addition to the Florida DBPR license and Broward County tourist development tax registration. The license should be in place before you advertise the property.

What the application requires

Applications are sworn under penalty of perjury, so every detail needs to be accurate. Depending on the property type, a city certificate of use and a city business tax receipt may also be required.

Open violations block the license

Clear violations first. Hollywood will not issue a vacation rental license on a property with open code violations. If our Property Check finds any, we'll tell you exactly what needs to be resolved before filing.

Step-by-step

  1. Confirm the property can operate, including condo or HOA rules.
  2. Register with the Florida Department of Revenue, then get your DBPR vacation rental license.
  3. Register for Broward County tourist development tax.
  4. Resolve any open violations.
  5. Apply for the Hollywood vacation rental license and any certificate of use or business tax receipt your property type needs.
  6. Keep the license renewed and your representative's contact details current.
